Mood: Happy Snapper
December. The last month of the year. The end of 2013.
How did we get to this point of the year so quickly?
December has to be my favourite month of the year. Christmas is in December, as is New Year’s Eve. And both J and I, as well as my baby sister and my favourite nephew, celebrate our birthdays in December. So this is my birthday month. And every weekend is packed full of activities.
I’m posting this mid way through this very busy month, and I can happily report that I had an amazing birthday. The day was eventful – we went to a combined birthday party for 2 of Master S’s little friends who are turning 3, and less than an hour after we arrived, Master S dropped a 2kg hand-weight onto his little toe. We zoomed straight to A&E at Ryde Hospital, where an X-ray thankfully showed no broken bones. Over a week later, the toe is still quite swollen, but Master S is happy to tell everyone that he has bones in his foot and he saw them on the picture, which sports a proud place on our fridge. The rest of the day was taken up with grocery shopping, before we headed out to dinner with our very good friends at a lovely restaurant in Carlingford. I certainly felt very loved on the day.
Little Boy #2 continues to grow, with me feeling very much like I’m running out of room. Little Boy #2 continues to be very active throughout the day and night, and is now strong enough to move my body when he kicks. And yes, that freaks out some of the people who sit down next to me on the bus, but I’m fine with that. The only downside to this pregnancy is the number of vitamin supplements I have to take – I’m now taking 6 pills every morning (folic acid, calcium, magnesium, Vitamin D, and iron). It’s a huge adjustment to my schedule to have to swallow the whole pharmacy every morning. Our next appointment with the lovely Dr Baber is tomorrow, when we will see our little man again.
I’ve been a bit slack with uploading my photos for the December Photo A Day Challenge. We’ve been so busy this month that I’ve fallen behind with the photos, and often post them late on all the sites where I’ve been sharing my photos. To be honest, I’ve been feeling a bit jaded about this challenge, and am unsure whether I’ll continue on with it next year. There are a few factors that have made me question my continued involvement with this challenge – whilst I’ve had fun and have really appreciated this outlet for my creativity, I do wonder if I will be able to keep up with my commitment to this challenge given how much busier I’m going to be next year. Plus, I am a naturally competitive person, and seeing the same people repeatedly “winning” the daily Fab Four – now being chosen by a panel of moderators – is disheartening.
Please keep checking back for my photos – this may well be my final month!
