Gung Hei Fat Choi!

Mood: Happy Chinese New Year!

It’s my most favourite time of the year – Chinese New Year!

2010 is the Year of the Tiger, and it just so happens that J is a Tiger. My year, the Year of the Rat, was a couple of years ago. Since it is J’s year, I thought I’d find out what this year will hold for us as far as Chinese horoscope is concerned.

Here’s the one for me: For those born in the Year of the Rat, year 2010 promises to be an average year for you, while you may suffer from melancholy from time to time, the positioning of the planets in 2010 will benefit the rats and they will most definitely be more self-confident, and be more innovative than before. Excellent news for the lonely rats, year 2010 promises a great love life for you. You will definitely find a lover within the year, and for the ones that are blissfully married, the year will be filled with romantic joy. Time to rejoice in the warmth of love, rats!

Here’s the one for J: For their own year, the Tigers will face a surprisingly average year with little ups and downs. While everything will be at your advantage this year, you will find it terribly difficult to find the encouragement and willpower to perform at your very best. Find the encouragement within yourself or you might be faced with plenty of disappointments. 2010 will provide a healthy backdrop for you, for those suffering digestive problems; you will most likely find that situations for you will improve.

Just as well we don’t believe in this stuff!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Year of the Tiger! Gung Hei Fat Choi!

Happy New Year!!!

Mood: Belated Happy New Year!

I know I’m over a month late, but better late than never.

Happy New Year!

I have a bunch of photos of the fireworks from NYE 09/10 that I’ve gleaned from the net, which I will upload at some point.

You’ll be pleased to know that we missed most of the fireworks, again, but this time it was due to the fact we were having too much fun playing with our new friends Charley and Ant.

J and I had our annual bash on NYE, with a small select group of people invited to eat, drink and be merry. This year, we hosted Chuck and Kyung, Emma our neighbour from L16 (and her "children" Charley and Ant), along with repeat offenders (I mean partygoers) Fiona and Dan. For a change, I wasn’t the one who ended up horizontal by 1.30am – J took the honours this year, after a wild night of mixing his drinks, switching with no rhyme nor rhythm.

This year, J bought Sing Star for the party people to karaoke the night away. We had so much fun!

The party finally petered out at around 3.30am, when the guests all passed out and I’d finished tidying up. I was surprised to feel not too drunk, and was extremely happy to wake up with no hangover.

Breakfast was a veritable feast of bacon, capsicum and sweet corn fritters (vegetarian ones for Emma), which were devoured along with jugs of juice and coffee. The last of our guests left around midday, and J and I found ourselves comfortable spots on the couch and flaked out for the rest of New Year’s Day.

We are so blessed to have such great friends. What a terrific NYE and NYD – let’s do it again next year!
